How is my vehicle tracked?

A GPS tracking device is discreetly installed in your vehicle that records geographical positions whilst in movement. The data is sent live to our secure cloud servers over the mobile GPRS network allowing you to access your fleets position via a web browser or smartphone device.

How often does my vehicle’s location update?

The tracking device sends positions once per minute or whenever the vehicle turns more than 15 degrees. This results in true live turn-by-turn tracking allowing our system to accurately record journey and mileage data.

Does it only work in the UK?

Our devices operate not just across Europe but most of the world. If your vehicles are required to travel further afield please contact us and we will be happy to arrange. Simplytrak have units operating in over 40 countries so far on 5 continents.

Do I need to install software on my computer?

Our web-based software operates on any modern browser and we also provide a free smartphone application that can be downloaded from the Apple store or Play store.

Does it detect how well I drive?

Yes, our trackers include technology that is able to detect harsh driving events such as acceleration, braking, cornering, speeding, idling and impact detection. These events are recorded on the system allowing you to monitor how well your fleet is being driven.

How big is the tracking device?

The tracking device dimensions are 80 x 48 x 26 mm.

Where is it installed?

The device is discreetly installed underneath the vehicle dashboard. No antenna’s or wires are visible.

Who installs the tracking device?

We use a team of highly qualified and experienced engineers who will install the device at a time and place to suit you. Typically, each install takes approximately 45 minutes.

Is it safe to use in my vehicle?

Our device is FCC/CE/E-Mark Certified and meets all of the safety standards that govern the use of tracking devices in vehicles.

Does it have a backup battery?

Yes, if the device loses main power, an internal battery will keep the tracking live for up to five hours. Additionally, an email alert can be configured to notify you in the event of power loss.

Is my data secure and backed up?

All of your data is stored in the highly rated Amazon Web Services cloud platform which includes numerous redundancy safeguards and regular backups. You can be assured that your data is secure and safe.

How long do you store my data?

Currently, we hold five years of your data live on the system. Older data is archived away but is still accessible if required.

Can we have more than one user login?

Yes, we do not restrict or charge more for extra user accounts. You are able to create users and groups via the administrator section.

What happens at the end of my contract, are the trackers ours?

Yes once the contract is up, we give you the option to renew or just go on to a month by month, just paying for your GPRS fees.

What happens if I sell one of my vehicles during the contract?

We will happily come out and remove your tracker from one vehicle and reinstall it into your new vehicle.

Is there a cost to having a tracker removed from one vehicle and installed into another?

Yes we charge a one off £95 + Vat for a de and re install

Is there any upfront costs?

With all of our contracts there are no upfront costs. However if you choose to buy outright you will need to pay a one of fee to cover the cost of the unit.

How much for installation and setup?

All prices quoted include installation and setup.
